Teaching career? Kindergarten?

I'm working as a kindergarten teacher and the new school year is coming right around the coner. I need some fun (education) ideas on what to do woth my class. I'm new to this I was a teacher for a Junior High, but thats different. I didn't get those craft books or those activity book that most pre-school and kindergarten teachers get.

I am a second grade teacher but for 3 years I was a kindergarden teacher.

First I would search online and purchase books that have information about teaching kindergarden. As it is very different from middle school and I think you could use a guide to help you out.

Kindergardeners love to have fun but learn at the same time. They alway loved art projects and hands on activities becasue they are young and sitting still for to long is very hard to do. I would suggest doing arts and crafts w/ every activitie you are doing. They are mostly learning abc's and 123's so search for some fun and creative projects that have to do with that.

Alot of them were very into nature so we did alot of nature projects that were hands on and those went well. One day all students were asked to search for leaves that match on the paper and then we had a whole discussion about the types of leaves they found and then they made a picture using the leaves.

In kindergarden kids are at all levels and some are alot more advanced than others. Some cant read a word while others can read simple chapter books and some know addition and subtraction while some are still learning there higher numbers, so it is really important to be patient while in this process and to be aware of your students abillities and where they need help.

Kindergarden is the very first year children are going to a real school with school buses in classes w/ teachers and some are full day. The parents sometime find this very hard leaving there child and I sent out weekly newspaper and website w/ pictures to keep the parents updated on what has been happeneding in our classroom!

Kindergarden is a wonderful grade to teach I hope you have fun!
