Pre Teaching Activities

pre teaching activities
key person to a child with a hearing disability?

I work in a pre school and am about to become a key person for the first time to a child with a hearing aid. I have to do a learning journey that shows what learning goals she can do and achieves whilst with me for the term. If anyone who teaches or has a child with a hearing disability that could give me some advice on how to make sure she has a great start at pre school and some activities to make learning fun for her would be very much appreciated. thanks to all who comment appropriately.

Lots of visuals and hands on learning

This is a good time to start penmanship skills. Learning how to write. Use white board or chalkboard.

Reading will be very important for this child to communicate.

You could also start indroducing them to sign language. Even though their hearing can be corrected years to come with modern medicine. It's always good to give them an option of communiticating with sign language.

Start with the letters by sign or just use simple signing.

I know how to sign mom, dad, please, thank you, your welcome, and cookie in sign language. It actually helped me a few times working with adults with disabilites.
